Every Body’s Beautiful

I’m delighted to be showing a handful of nudes in this show -which opens tonight- at Stoneheart Gallery in Evergreen, Colorado.

Deep treacly blues

I’ve never been to Michigan. I love this song.

I’m in the process of wrapping some monotypes to put out as ‘bin work.’

I can’t seem to keep my hands off them, though. I  keep having a go at them with colored pencils. After they’ve been photographed. Or recorded through a scanner, poorly.

Always with the fish. I don’t even eat fish. Maybe that’s what’s wrong with me.

Night owls

Chine-collé monotypes made at the Art Students League of Denver.

They started to morph away from owl and toward floating groucho glasses at the end.

A couple of monotypes

Now that the scanner is working again.

Meant to go make more monotypes today.

Instead, I’m hiding in my studio, working on small paintings for upcoming holiday shows and listening to Seven Swans over & over. Soothing.

Carpaccio Magazine

I’m delighted to have two of my paintings reproduced in the current issue, “Error,” of this Spanish arts magazine. Carpaccio can be viewed online here.

Thank you, Carpaccio.

Merge

I will have a piece in this show at the beautiful new CVA. “Merge” opens with a 7:00 pm reception this Friday July 16 (I wish I could say that Joe Cocker is going to be there) and runs until August 28.

Once in a blue moon

We are coming up on the second of two blue moons that we’ll have this year.

I don’t know what the odds are of having two blue moons in a year, and my geekery level isn’t high enough this evening to find out.

I’m too busy trying to paint a Mexican wrestler.

Good news- a trio of great shows at CORE New Art Space. Opening tomorrow with an artists’ reception on Friday evening, this show features three artists at different points in their careers, working in different genres.

All three are gifted and dedicated artists, and I recommend you come to see this show if you can.

My friend Claudia Roulier, is one of the three artists in this show. Claudia makes me feel like an underachiever; she is so prolific and talented, and her (often delightfully creepy) work is a must-see!

Cronebirthing

Oil on canvas, 40″ x 30″.

CroneThis one is a little  different than usual. I started it after learning of the death of one of my drawing teachers from way back.

Her name was Jean Schiff. She was tough, demanding, dedicated and funny. Unfortunately, there is not a lot of Jean’s work online but you can see a handful of her drawings here.

Feeling a little stressed out trying to finish 11 paintings in time for my opening on September 11. Trying to keep hopelessness at bay with 5 hour energy drinks and boxed wine. Probably a terrible idea.

This year’s Christmas card

Linocut. Cut my fingers up, printed by hand. Dreary time of year.

Mental Playground

Watercolor, 12″ x 16″.
