Adam’s Rib

Adam's Rib

Making steady progress toward finishing the paintings for my September show, despite having caught another annoying cold.

Filler

Sweet song and video. I need sweet right now in August- it’s a tonic.

Raindance

It’s time for the Carnation Festival here in Wheat Ridge, which always makes me feel like summer is over.

Shriners will be lining up on my street tomorrow, honking their horns and getting ready for the parade down 38th street.

If you live in Denver and have the chance, Gina Smith Caswell’s newest paintings at Next Gallery in the Navajo street art district are well worth a look.

Chewy explorations of hair and flesh in paint. They’ll be up for three more weekends.

Cronebirthing

Oil on canvas, 40″ x 30″.

CroneThis one is a little  different than usual. I started it after learning of the death of one of my drawing teachers from way back.

Her name was Jean Schiff. She was tough, demanding, dedicated and funny. Unfortunately, there is not a lot of Jean’s work online but you can see a handful of her drawings here.

Feeling a little stressed out trying to finish 11 paintings in time for my opening on September 11. Trying to keep hopelessness at bay with 5 hour energy drinks and boxed wine. Probably a terrible idea.

Step Into My Parlor

It has been a very spidery summer in my studio. Arachnids creep me out a bit but I enjoy their beauty almost as much as I admire their industry. Would that I could get as much accomplished. Here is a new painting, 40″ x 40″, oil on canvas.Step-IntoMyParlor

Pics of Graffiti in Lisbon

Lisbongraf11The graffiti in Lisbon is abundant, accomplished, and impossible to ignore. Here are few pics of a wall near the place we stayed. Photographs by Frank Harbour.

Martini Ranch

I’ll have paintings at Martini Ranch in Denver in July, thanks to Eric Matelski.

If you’re in Denver, I hope you’ll consider coming by for the Artist Happy Hour on Friday, July 10 from 6 to 9 PM.

Spanish Lesson

 Spanish Lesson

I’ll be leaving for Spain in a couple of days.

Very excited to see paintings up close and personal that I’ve only glimpsed small reproductions of thus far- particularly Goya’s black paintings..

I’ve been wondering if it isn’t time for me to put this blog to bed.

I’m not keeping up on it and certainly not providing interesting content on a regular basis.

The problem may be that I didn’t have a clear purpose for blog when starting it.

A self-promotional tool? I use it as that, but I’m more comfortable usually promoting others.

An online diary? I’m not forthcoming enough to post any truly interesting daily ruminations I may have.

Perhaps I’m just too lazy.

Maybe I’ll find renewed energy for continuing with it when I return. If not, BANG! this blog needs to go to the delete bin in the sky.

Hasta la vista.

I’ve been a bad blogger.

DragonOfStilledWhims

No post in months. Oh well.

Here’s something recent: The Dragon of Stilled Whims, oil on canvas, 9″ x 12″.
